STIGA’s pre-made bats are some of the best in recreational table tennis, and they have made sure that there are options for players of all levels. In this article, we’ll provide the complete STIGA Titan paddle review.

The STIGA Titan is an ITTF approved all-round paddle that is suitable for beginners or intermediate players. The Titan is one of STIGA’s most affordable paddles, but still provides quality characteristics and is built with quality.

It has decent stats in all main attributes: speed, spin, and control – but is definitely a control-focused paddle, making it the perfect paddle for someone to learn the basic strokes with. If we were to compare this paddle to another, which we’ve reviewed, we would have to mention the JET 200 or the Omega Control.

Who is it for?

Who is it not for?

This is the perfect paddle for newer players who are looking for their first premium paddle. This is a great paddle for beginners looking to learn and improve the basic techniques and skills.
We don't recommend the Titan to advanced recreational players, as the paddle won't provide the desired speed or spin which more advanced paddles would provide.

Once again, for this review, we’ll focus on the key components of any ping pong paddle, namely: the blade, the rubber, the handle as well as what the paddle specializes in.

If interested, we’ve written a complete ping pong paddle buying guide here – which may help you in determining which paddle suits you best.

The Blade

The Titan is constructed with an extra-light 5 ply real wood blade. This is the minimum amount you should be looking for in terms of layers, as this provides the racket with a solid and durable base.

This isn’t the most premium blade out there, but for a beginner or someone who is getting their first upgraded paddle – it will definitely be a huge improvement to the stock standard paddle.

The blade is made to be light, benefiting control in a player’s games. Having a lighter paddle will mean it will be easier to have precise placement and keep rallies going on for longer. A heavier paddle will naturally put more speed on the ball, taking away from control – this is why a heavier paddle is more ideal for advanced recreational players.

Overall, this is a solid blade and is made to be lightweight which is perfect for beginner or inexperienced players. This blade is durable and will be a dramatic improvement for the stock standard paddle.

The Rubber

We’re not sure on the exact rubber used for the Titan, however, we do know that the rubber is ITTF approved so it is legal in official competitions.

The rubber has a smooth surface and is inverted on both surfaces. The rubber isn’t built for speed but rather decent spin and control. Players say that putting spin on the ball is a lot easier than with the stock standard paddle.

The Titan uses a 2mm sponge thickness, which is pretty thick for a defensive paddle. A 2mm sponge will give the paddle decent speed, but because the rubber doesn’t have the spring that other more advanced rubbers have – there won’t be too much pace and there’ll be more control.

Overall, this is solid rubber for a beginner. It will provide a huge boost in your strikes compared to a stock standard paddle – you’ll see some pretty impressive improvements if you choose the STIGA Titan as your first upgrade.

The Handle

The handle used for the STIGA Titan is a concave Italian composite handle. This essentially means it is a flared handle, which is ideal for the Shakehand grip user.

The handle uses WRB technology, which basically means the handle is slightly hollow. This gives the handle a light feeling, and distributes the weight of the paddle to the face – this means the paddle will feel heavier in the blade rather than in the handle. This is quite a unique feeling at first but is effective once used to and STIGA uses this technology is a lot in their pre-made bats.

Overall, STIGA are known for their handles and make comfort and performance a priority.

Conclusion

If you’re a new player to the game of ping pong, we don’t think there are many other best first paddles than the STIGA Titan. The paddle will boost your game dramatically if you’ve been using those paddles that come with the table – and you’ll be taking down your mates in no time. The Titan is also very affordable, so getting that first upgrade won’t hurt the bank too much.
